Emissions – Analysis, Reductions, Offsets, and Reporting
The Cleaner & Greener® Program helps event organizers quantify, reduce and offset emissions caused by event activities and earn Cleaner & Greener® certification. We calculate emissions resulting from travel to and from the event, event space energy use, lodging, and meals. We work with the event host to offset these emissions at the level that they choose. Events are certified Cleaner & Greener® by LEO and recognized for the level of emission reductions and offsets achieved.
The Cleaner & Greener® Program helps companies and organizations lead the way to a cleaner, greener and healthier environment. We quantify your emissions footprint, calculate emission reductions from energy efficiency and other emission reduction projects, help you offset these emissions, and certify the level of emission reductions and offsets achieved.
Cleaner & Greener® certification can help you—whether you represent a business, government office, or other organization—communicate to the public that you are taking action to reduce pollution that contributes to climate change, smog and acid rain. The program recognizes your company or organization for its environmental stewardship by rewarding the emission reduction benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The Cleaner & Greener® standard provides requirements for emissions inventories, utilizing the latest in emissions calculations, carbon reduction credits and offsets, and carbon sequestration projects, and houses the requirements for all of these under one emissions reporting certification framework. Whether you are looking to report the emissions from an individual, an event, a company, a product, or anything in-between, the Cleaner & Greener® standard is the best standard to understand the full effects of any organization on their surrounding environment and communities. Cleaner & Greener® participation can also help your building earn one credit toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB®) status through the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification program.
Your supply chain is probably what contributes the most to your overall carbon footprint. As a supplier, your actions directly affect the carbon footprint of your clients, just as they directly affect your own. Companies are already requesting a Net Zero Reduction Plan from their suppliers.
In fact, in order to tender for medium- to large-sized contracts, the government NOW requires a Net Zero Reduction Plan.
The US SEC is expected to commence their emissions reporting rule by the end of 2023, which would require companies to report their Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions starting between FY 2023 and FY 2025, depending on the size and filing status of the company. You must be aware of your actual carbon footprint in order to create a Net Zero Reduction Plan.
Reducing Emissions to Slow Climate Change Would Provide Significant Health Benefits by 2030
According to recent research from NASA, Duke University, and Columbia University, improvements in air quality as a result of global reductions in greenhouse gas emissions would benefit human health and prevent economic losses.

Aflac’s major sustainability goals are to be carbon neutral by 2040 and net zero by 2050. We also have a couple of additional goals mentioned in the CDP’s Climate Change Questionnaire such as a 75% reduction of Scope 1 & 2 emissions from our 2007 base year and use of 30% sustainable aviation fuel for fuel pumped from Aflac’s aviation department’s fuel farm.
Brandix has committed for all factories, under its direct control, to be net zero carbon in operation by 2023. To achieve this ambitious goal, its decarbonization strategy involves on-site renewable energy generation – with Brandix currently adding nearly 20mW of solar and biomass to its current energy mix; and resource optimization strategies with upgrades to air compressors, sewing machines, lighting and building fabric.
